  • Its details best practices to reduce pollutants in Stormwater discharges and runoff
  • Identifies procedures that will be implemented and followed to comply with construction and operation permits.
Failure to implement a SWPPP and comply with terms and conditions of operation and construction permits can result in fines from state and federal government agencies.

Your SWPPP must include:

BMPs

Best Management Practice (BMPs) are used to improve and prevent pollution from industrial and Stormwater runoff. They can be temporary air and water pollution control measures. Defined by the Los Angeles Municipal Stormwater Permit as “means, methods, or practices designed and selected to reduce or eliminate the discharge of pollutants to surface waters from point and non-point source discharges including stormwater. BMPs include but are not limited to structural and nonstructural controls and operation and maintenance procedures. BMPs can be applied before, during, and after pollution-producing activities.”

BMPs are important to implement, as violations of the Clean Water Act can result in fines up to $37,000 each date a facility is in violation.
